Unleash Your Power at the Plate with a Szabo Woodworks Custom Bat

Step up to the batter's box with a tool crafted for performance and precision. At Szabo Woodworks, we don't just make baseball bats; we craft extensions of a player's passion and dedication to the game. Each bat is meticulously handcrafted from a single billet of premium, straight-grain wood, selected with the utmost care to ensure maximum strength and durability.

Our commitment to quality, born from a veteran's discipline and a craftsman's passion, is evident in every turn of the lathe. Whether you're a power hitter looking to send one into the bleachers or a contact hitter aiming for the gaps, we have the wood and the expertise to create your perfect bat.

Choose Your Weapon: Premium Ash or Maple

Select from two of the most trusted and celebrated woods in baseball history:

  • Northern White Ash: Prized for its lightweight feel and flexibility, an ash bat offers a more forgiving hitting surface and a traditional "whip" through the strike zone. The distinct grain structure of our ash bats is not only beautiful but also a testament to their strength, providing a bat that is both responsive and durable.

  • Hard Maple: For those who crave power and a stiffer feel, our hard maple bats are the ideal choice. Maple is a denser, more rigid wood, resulting in a greater transfer of energy to the ball for increased exit velocity. Its tight grain structure also makes it less prone to flaking, ensuring a long-lasting and reliable bat.

Tailored to Your Swing: Custom Made to Your Specifications

Your bat should be as unique as your swing. At Szabo Woodworks, you have the power to design a bat that is perfectly suited to your style of play. Customize your order with the following options:

  • Turn Model: From traditional to torpedo, choose a turn model that complements your hitting approach.
  • Length and Weight: Most bats will target a -2 or -3 drop weight (30ozor 29oz for a 32" bat).
  • Engravings: Opt for up to two lines of text. The first up to 10 characters long (a name) and the second line up to 20 characters long. For example Line 1: "Ricky" and Line 2 "Neighborhood Slugger".
  • Austin Texas Bat Selections: Those local to Austin Texas can schedule a time to view available bats and choose one that will fit best.

Each Szabo Woodworks bat is a testament to American craftsmanship, proudly made to your exact specifications.

Disclaimer: Please be aware that wood is a natural material, and as such, each bat will have unique grain patterns and slight color variations. While we select only the highest quality wood for its strength and durability, all wooden bats are susceptible to breaking over time and with use. Szabo Woodworks is not responsible for any injuries that may occur from the use of our products. Use at your own risk.

  • Returns and Warranty

At Szabo Woodworks, we stand behind the quality and craftsmanship of every bat we produce. Each bat is a custom piece of equipment made to your precise specifications.

We guarantee that your bat will be made to the exact length, weight, and model specifications you ordered or agreed upon. We also guarantee that your bat will be free from any structural defects in the wood or manufacturing flaws upon arrival.

    • All Sales Are Final: Because each bat is custom-made for a specific player, we cannot offer returns or exchanges based on dissatisfaction with the feel, weight distribution, or performance of a correctly made bat. We encourage you to be certain of your desired specifications before ordering.

    • What Is Covered (Warranty):

      • Manufacturing Defects: If you discover a defect in your bat upon receiving it (e.g., a crack that was present before use, a significant flaw in the grain), please contact us within 7 days of delivery. Please include photos of the issue. We will review the claim, and if a defect is confirmed, we will replace the bat at no cost.
      • Incorrect Specifications: If your bat does not match the specifications of your order, please notify us within 7 days of delivery. We will verify the discrepancy and, if we made an error, we will craft and ship a correct replacement.
      • Damage During Shipping: If your bat arrives damaged, please take photos of the shipping box and the bat itself and contact us immediately so we can file a claim with the carrier and get a replacement started for you.
    • What Is Not Covered:

      • Breakage From Use: Wooden bats will break. It is an inherent risk of the game. Breakage that occurs from hitting a baseball is not considered a manufacturing defect and is not covered by our warranty. This includes bats that break on the first swing or the 100th swing.
      • Normal Wear & Tear: Small chips, dents, or "flaking" on maple bats that occur from normal use are not considered defects.
      • Misuse: Breakage or damage resulting from hitting anything other than a regulation baseball (e.g., cleats, equipment, dimpled cage balls), or from throwing the bat, is not covered.
  • Baseball Bat Care Instructions

Your Szabo Woodworks bat is a precision tool crafted from a natural material. Following these care instructions will help you get the maximum performance and lifespan out of your bat.

    Best Practices for Hitting:

    • Hit with the Label Up (or Down): We place our logo on the weakest face of the wood grain. For maximum power and durability, you should always strike the ball on the face of the bat that is 90 degrees from the logo. A simple reminder is to keep the "label up or label down" when you make contact.

    • Rotate Your Bat: Don't hit on the same side every time. Regularly rotating your bat by a quarter turn between at-bats ensures even compaction of the wood grain, which can strengthen the bat over time.

    • Avoid "Cage Balls": Heavy, water-logged, or dimpled rubber batting cage balls are much harder on wooden bats than regulation baseballs. We recommend using your wood bat for game use or live batting practice with real baseballs.

    Storage & Handling:

    • Keep it Dry: Wood is porous and will absorb moisture. A wet bat becomes heavier, loses its pop, and is much more likely to break. If your bat gets wet, wipe it down immediately with a dry cloth and let it air dry completely.

    • Store Vertically and Indoors: Store your bat in a cool, dry place, standing upright. Never leave your bat in a hot car trunk or a damp garage. Extreme temperature and humidity changes can cause the wood to weaken.

    • For Baseballs Only: Never use your bat to knock mud from your cleats, hit rocks, or throw in anger. It is designed for one purpose: hitting a baseball.

    • Don't Share (Too Much): A bat conforms to a player's swing over time. Limiting its use to one player can help prolong its life.

By following these guidelines, you'll be giving your custom bat the best chance to perform at its peak for as long as possible.
